The photo does not do justice. This well made pan has a heavy glass lid, the pan and inserts are metal with a titanium type coating. It says you can use metal utensils, but since I have silicone ones I won't risk marring the surface. I was very surprised and pleased at the high quality and I think you will too! BTW the inserts each have a knob for easy lifting and outer shiny stainless (?) bottoms.
