Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Cuisinart CBK-200 2-Pound Convection Automatic Bread Maker

Customer Review: Not Happy at ALL!
Summary: 1 Stars

Product never baked any bread ... unless you count a crusty top and a doughy bottom, bread. The first time I attempted to make bread, the pan shook loose until I bowed the sides a bit. The second attempt at bread made me just waste more ingredients.

Customer Review: Great bread
Summary: 5 Stars

My wife gave me this machine for my birthday. I used it for the first time last night, the first time I have tried to make bread in my life. It made some of the best bread I have found in the United States! I don't understand some of the negative reviews I read. The machine is easy to use, and even I can make great bread with it. I would recommend it to anyone, well maybe not my mom. Her's is still the best!

Customer Review: 2nd purchase - use several times per week
Summary: 5 Stars

This is my second purchase of this machine. I have worn out several cheaper bread machines over the years so my main attraction to the Cuisinart is the generous 3 year warranty. I use the machine 2-3 times per week. My first one didn't die but the buttons started to stick so bought a new one. I really like the "remove paddle" signal and that the initial kneading cycle is long (about 30 minutes). I live at high altitude so adjustments are necessary for most recipes. What I have learned is to use the same basic recipe with some added gluten and use the rapid cycle versus the regular. I have had problems with the bread pan (grease around the kneading shaft) but they replace the pan because it is under warranty. I also really like the convection feature and the quality of loaf produced.

Customer Review: Do Not Recommend - Burns bread & quits after only 36 days

Bread Machine Review Cuisanart CBK200

Whatever you do, do not buy a refurbished Cuisanart CBK200 machine & do not buy one through Ebay! I paid $80 for it & received it on July 10. On August 15 it quit working altogether.

I am a very experienced bread machine baker & all-around cook. This was my 4th machine in about 20 years. My previous machines were Toastmasters which were excellent.

The first three loaves (white & wheat) were okay. The next was Banana Walnut Loaf, per their recipe---the Quick Bread/cake cycle. It burned at least 3/4" deep on the bottom and both sides. Thinking perhaps there was an error in the recipe book, I baked a second loaf using the Sweet Bread cycle. Since I had trouble with the previous loaf, I watched it very carefully. It also began burning. When it cooked enough that I could remove it from the pan I did, then finished cooking it in my oven which took another 40 minutes. Then last Saturday, Aug 15, it started humming loudly & quit working at all.

The book that came with it stated a 90 day limited warranty. When I contacted Cuisanart they refused any help, saying they would not honor a warranty on anything purchased through EBay as they had had so many problems with things purchased there.

I emailed the seller, Abe's Gourmet Kitchen, yesterday, requested a refund and am waiting on their reply.

Customer Review: Very disappointed
Summary: 1 Stars

I am so disappointed in this product that I just spent another $29 to return it to the company. The overall performance was a much poorer quality than bread machines I owned years ago. Out of the eight loaves I made, only two were marginally satisfactory. I followed the directions precisely and used brand new high quality ingredients but even with a simple loaf of banana nut quick bread, the flour was not well mixed into the batter. I had really looked forward to some delicious bread from this machine, but after this unfortunate experience, I think I'll just go back to the tried and true hand kneading method!
I would definitely not recommend this product.
