Toasting slots don't come any wider than the 2-inch crevasse on this electronic toaster. It accommodates the thickest bread, fluffiest English muffins, and plumpest bagels. Thickness affects toasting quality, and Cuisinart solves that problem by moving the heating elements right against an item's surfaces for fast, even browning. At 11 inches long, the toasting slot holds two slices of bread and two or three half bagels or English muffins. A touch-control panel offers a range of options: a bagel button for thick items; a single-slice button; a defrost button for thawing and toasting frozen items; and a reheat button for warming without additional browning. Other features of the 850-watt toaster include seven browning settings, a slide-out crumb tray, and a lever to lift short slices extra high. The handsome toaster, in gleaming, stay-cool plastic, measures 16 inches long, 7-3/4 inches high, and 6-3/4 inches wide, and carries a three-year warranty against defects. --Fred BrackToasters
