Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Cuisinart Chef's Classic Nonstick Hard-Anodized 12-Inch Skillet with Helper Handle

Customer Review: Easy Cooking
Summary: 5 Stars

These are great kitchen helps! I ordered the 8",10" and 12". They are truly wonderful pans. I then ordered two more sets for Christmas gifts. What a bargin and the quality is tops.

Customer Review: Unacceptable nonstick coating
Summary: 1 Stars

I bought this product around 10 months ago. I assumed it has an Excalibur coating as had previous Cuisinart nonsticks. It doesn't. It has a coating very much like a traditional Teflon I coating. Its very non-stick. Because of this, I was very careful not to overheat it, or to clean it in the dishwasher or to use metal utensils with it. Unfortunately, the nonstick coating started coming off in flakes about two weeks ago. I sent an e-mail to Cuisinart customer support which they ignored. I called them and they told me to ship it at my own expense, and if they deemed it defective, they'd ship me a new one at my expense. This meant that I would have to pay approximately $20-$25 to remedy a product that was designed or produced in a clearly defective way. My experience confirms the Consumer Reports' rating which says that Cuisinart frying pans nonstick coating are given the lowest possible score for reliability. If you are considering buying this pan, and you read the reviews of others who love it, if I had sent in a review anytime in the first eight months, it would have also been a glowing one. This is pretty much true of all nonsticks. They're great until the coating dies and most of these reviews were written too soon for their authors to have had that experience. I suggest that you try and find a relatively cheap pan with an Excalibur coating. It will wear out too, but it will take around two years, and not cost as much.

Customer Review: This is the one to get
Summary: 5 Stars

Tried different ones from Cuisinart, Anolon - they were good but they would burn out after a year or so. I assumed that was normal. The quality of this particular model seems way above what I've seen / used so far, and there is no doubt in my mind this will last longer.. Only minor negative - no lid included, so I am using a lid from an older Cuisinart model - works great.

Customer Review: Still in great shape after 19 months!
Summary: 5 Stars

We bought one of these along with the 10 inch version. After years of disappointment in non-stick skillets we've finally found a product that works and lasts. 19 months later, having seen nearly daily use of each, these skillets are still in great shape, and should last a long time to come. We can strongly recommend these skillets for quality, longevity, and bang for the buck. Here are the basic rules we follow to take care of them: No heat above medium setting, *never* use "Pam" or any spray oils (we use olive oil), never use metal utensils (don't be tempted, no matter what they say about being safe for metal utensils), and only use scouring pads made for non-stick skillets (although scouring pads are very seldom needed). The surfaces now only show tiny wear scratches, and nothing that goes all the way through the non-stick layer. Only normal wear and tear, and much less than any other non-stick skillet we've owned. And the non-stick surface still works like it should. These are keepers, and we'll buy again when they finally do wear out. Good for you Cuisinart!

Customer Review: Outstanding Value
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a fantastic value. There is no question that this Cuisinart skillet does absolutely everything it's supposed to do, but what makes it remarkable is the price! You simply can't go wrong - BUY IT!
