Customer Review: The most bang for this raw foodies buck!

I just purchased my third Cuisinart food processor in 30 years, theCuisinart DLC-2014N PowerPrep Plus 14-Cup Capacity Food Processor, White which replaced my old Custom 11, the Cuisinart processor I owned and loved for the past 20 of those 30 years. The Custom 11 finally gave up the ghost during my recent holiday raw vegan food preparation, after years of serving me efficiently and well. The Custom 11 replaced my original 7 cup Cuisinart which I bought in 1980. The 7 cup also served me well, perhaps not as efficiently as the later model and as noisy as all get-out, but still like a war horse for a good 10 years before I burned out its motor in the middle of a project, trying to grind too many nuts for my Christmas treats so many holidays ago.
I knew I was going to stick with Cuisinart again and I also knew I needed a 14 cup model this time around but I was a bit overwhelmed with all my choices ~ PowerPrep, Elite, Custom and variations thereof. I was resigned to spending over $200 so I studied all the reviews I could find long and hard before I decided that the 14 cup PowerPrep was the way to go, giving me the most bang for my buck and satisfying all the needs of my raw vegan kitchen. I chose correctly!
I ordered my new Cuisinart from Amazon on Saturday the 26th and received it via free shipping on Wednesday the 29th! Unbelievable! And it was priced so well! I immediately unpacked this beauty, set it up easily and quickly and went right to work, experimenting with the every blade except the dough blade which I really don't have much use for. I chopped, sliced, shredded and ground with ease. This baby is incredible and I am so very happy I selected the Cuisinart DLC-2014N PowerPrep Plus 14-Cup Capacity Food Processor, White!
First of all, although I never had a problem operating my Custom 11, I didn't realize how quirky and awkward it was until I put the PowerPrep to work. The PowerPrep just purrs! It is so EASY and so QUIET ~ 2 huge pluses for me. The ease of operation is a Godsend for someone like me who suffers with the limited mobility and cognitive impairment of a disabling chronic illness. Living with my disability usually involves a constant struggle to complete kitchen tasks that are otherwise impossible. Handling knives can be dangerous; chopping, slicing and grating painful; standing over the kitchen counter and cutting board exhausting. I appreciate so much this powerful and efficient food processor for the quiet ease in helping me nourish myself with the beautifully prepared raw vegan meals that add healing nutrition and pleasant variety to my life.
Secondly, I'm thrilled with the warranty ~ a full 10 year warranty on the motor and 3 years for defects in material or workmanship. It was also nice to get an instructional DVD (and a recipe book which I won't use but it looks very good for conventional cooks).
Thirdly, I'm excited about the optional accessories. I have already ordered a 2 mm thin slicing blade disc for processing cabbage for my homemade sauerkraut. Otherwise I would have to be using my mandoline to shred all that cabbage and I just don't trust myself with its sharp blade nor do I care to spend all that time shredding by hand ~ a nightmare for carpal tunnel disorder. I also have a 6mm julienne blade on my wish list which reminds me to suggest you also purchase Cuisinart Blade and Disc Holder or Cuisinart DLC-DH Disc Holder to protect your blades as well as those precious digits of yours.
So my last words are especially for other raw foodies ~ I highly recommend this model for your raw kitchen essentials and encourage you to go with 14 cups. I'm certain you'll be glad to have the larger capacity.
Finally, I couldn't be happier with Cuisinart and I'm sure I will continue to be happy for the next 20 years!
