Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Cuisinart GR-1 Griddler Panini and Sandwich PressCustomer Review: great panini sandwich maker Summary: 5 StarsAfter looking at all the Panini press's and reading the reviews we chose the Duisinart GR-1. What a great little addition to my kitchen, its small enough to keep on my counter and large enough to make great sandwiches. I love it and very happy with the decision to purchase this product
Customer Review: Great, but really too small Summary: 4 StarsI got this as a Christmas gift and love the grill - it heats up quickly, heats sandwiches evenly, and makes some tasty treats. It's also not too bad to clean. My only complaints about it are that it's a bit too small and the floating hinge doesn't open quite wide enough for a really thick sandwich. If I had to do it over, I'd ask for a bigger one. But I am generally happy with this one and it would be perfect for a single person or a couple.
Customer Review: Recommend Summary: 4 StarsI recommend this panini maker. Just plug it in, wait about 2 minutes for it to heat up (green indicator light) and go! Very easy to clean. My only beef: no temperature control. Don't hesitate on this purchase -- for the price it's a very nice addition to my kitchen. Great for quesadillas and grilled sandwiches.
Customer Review: Great deal & great product Summary: 4 StarsAs an entry level panini & sandwich press, this is an awesome one! I researched quite a few and then settled on this one - and I'm happy to say that I'm quite satisified with this. I used a friend's similar grill from Hamilton Beach and I was so glad I bought this one instead. It cooks evenly and cooks it well. I haven't tried it for any meats though - only paninis/sandwiches and I'm quite happy.
Customer Review: Great Little Panini Maker Summary: 4 StarsMy friend came over with her Panini Maker and we made Paninis for lunch one day. I HAD to have one so I got on-line and researched Panini Makers. After reading reviews, I ended up purchasing the Cuisinart GR-1 Griddler Panini and Sandwich Press. Although it was a little smaller than I had pictured and it did not have an adjustable hinge like my friend's, more expensive, Panini Maker, it made a Great Panini. Even without the adjustable hinge, I have not had any trouble making various size Paninis. The Panini Maker heats up in, I would say, less than 5 minutes and the green light indicates that it is ready and the Paninis are done in two minutes or so. I have made fresh mozzarella, tomato and fresh basil Paninis, turkey, Swiss cheese, avocado and bacon Paninis and simple grilled cheese. At first I used margarine on the outside of the breads but last time I brushed on olive oil with garlic powder. Those were the best! I believe that the instructions say that you don't have to use any oils at all if you don't want to. Clean up, so far, has been fairly easy. I just wipe it with a wet dish cloth. I do have to run the wet dish cloth through each of the groves to get everything out but nothing sticks to it. What else can I say? It is a great little product for under $50.00 and you will use it a lot! I only gave it four stars because there are bigger, better one (with the adjustable hinge) but they are probably twice the price.
