Purchasing this sauté pan was a huge decision for me. I finally committed to begin acquiring the quality cookware that I have always wanted. This piece of Cuisinart cookware is incredible. The first thing that I noticed was how beautiful it was. The second thing was how evenly it seemed to distribute the heat. The initial trials with the 51/2 quart pan took place with my most frequently used family recipes. I could finally cook enough food for our extended family, IN ONE PAN. The lid sealed great, and cleanup was not a problem. The pan is quite heavy but well balanced. The handle is comfortable, although it sometimes gets pretty warm depending on how much liquid you are simmering. This company definitely knows how to make a piece of cookware. I will most surely buy more.

The aluminum core extends up the sides, so food is cooked evenly and heat is retained. The inside is heavy, 18/10 stainless steel that won't discolor, corrode, or react with food and is stick-resistant. Add a mirror-finish, tight-fitting lid; a tapered rim for drip-free pouring; and stainless-steel handles, riveted for strength; and this roomy pan is ideal for frying lots of fish and chicken, sautéing lots of vegetables, or stewing on the stovetop.
