Customer Review: 2nd one had better luck!

ORIGINAL 1 STAR REVIEW: I received this as a Christmas gift and I was so excited! I used it 3 days in a row and on the 3rd day, it quit. I have no idea what happened. I didn't get an error message, no beeping... nothing. Just walked into the kitchen to check how much time was left and the thing had turned itself off and wouldn't turn back on. I called up Cuisinart and they told me to wait 1-2 hours and plug it back in to see if the problem had fixed itself. They couldn't tell me what could have happened or why, just to try this. I did, and it went back on, but when I transfered my food back in and turned it back on high, once again... nothing. I don't think this machine works on high. I have a feeling it overheats. Luckily, I had saved the box (just incase) and I still have the gift receipt.... there is NO way I am paying to ship it back to them and then paying to have a new one sent to me if their product is defective.
UPDATED REVIEW: I exchanged my defective cooker for a new one. I was pretty nervous about using it on high again so I used a very thin wire to hold up one side of the lid a fraction of an inch (I got the idea from another reviewer). It worked great. The tiny vent prevented the moisture under the lid from bubbling over. Also, my meal did not boil itself to death. I did a great deal of research and this is one of the best cookers on the market, which is why I decided to give it another go. So far, i'm glad I did. I love that theres a timer on it! It really helps! My daughter keeps me very busy and I often lose track of time.
I'm only giving this a 3 star rating right now because even though it works a lot better than the original one I received, I'm still worried that it will overheat. If it's still working great in a month from now, I'll bump up my rating to 5 stars. I do love it!
UPDATE: It's been a while and the slow cooker is still working GREAT! I would definitely recommend this cooker to anyone, however, I would suggest trying it on high a few times right away so you could return it and not have to go through Cuisinart and have to pay extra shipping to return a faulty product.
