Customer Review: Excellent Price, Excellent Results

I bought this waffle maker to replace a Toastmaster "Belgian" Waffle MakerToastmaster TMWB4BELW 4-Section Belgian Waffle Maker with Cool-Touch Exterior I wanted a waffle maker that was easier to clean (overspill doesn't flow into hinge) and made four full sized waffles. The "WAF-100" seemed to be the best mix of price and ratings, though reading the reviews raised concerns about how even the waffles would be cooked and the non-stickiness.
Today, I made a double-batch of my own recipe and the waffles turned out perfectly. I was happy that I made a double batch, because the iron is deep--even though it's not advertised as a belgian waffle iron (see uploaded pic, one waffle is as thick as two Eggo-brand waffles.) At a medium setting (just above "2"), I did not have any issues with the cooking of the waffles- they were cooked evenly and thoroughly, creating a crispy outer layer and a softer, fluffy center. I forgot to spray the cooking surfaces before I started, as recommended, but I had no issues with sticking at all. I had no spill over, either, but the machine takes so much batter at once that it's hard to over fill it. The machine is a huge upgrade over my previous machine.
I do not want to dismiss the other reports of sticking and uneven cooking. I suspect that a lot depends on the recipe (I use a baking powder-based recipe made from scratch) and that some recipes are more apt to get stuck. As for uneven cooking, I followed others' advice and used a mid to low setting and was patient. The machine cooked about as fast as the old Toastmaster, which had no temperature controls.
Overall, for the price, I am extremely happy with the waffle maker. I would certainly recommend it to a friend. Also, the name is funny. "WAF-100!!!" It sounds like a weapon on a military vehicle. Bonus.
