I'll be honest I read the reviews on amazon before i bought this waffle maker and followed the recommendations and I love this waffle maker. I put the setting to a "3" and pour the batter pretty much in the middle of the iron, then give it a gentle push down to spread the batter evenly. Don't worry about overflow on the sides, let the heat either dry it or cook it, it easily comes off when you're done cooking. Make sure you use a spray cooking oil like "pam" it won't stick at all that way. Hope this helps. definitely worth the buy!
