Customer Review: An excellent water filter!

I have had my Cuisinart WCH-1500 for about 3 months now. Everything you would want in a water filter is here. Sure there are more robust filters, but for me it is perfect. It is NFS certified, which means it is an effective filtration unit. The water has an excellent clean taste. It generates enough cold water to fill a 22 oz thermos. The hot water function will easily fill two 8oz cups with hot steaming water. I use it to filter room temperature water for my coffee maker. An added benefit of this is that you can bypass your coffee makers filter and save money on those specific filters.
Please note that the accurate preparation of the filter is ESSENTIAL. FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS! The filter has to soak in a bowl of water for a period of time. The purpose of this is so that any excessive carbon is washed away and that the filter is completely saturated with water. This is important so that the filter does not "float" in the container, because if it does, unfiltered water will leak into the lower chamber and you have, you guessed it UN filtered water. If that does happen to you, just drain the unit and over a sink open the rubber drainage plug on the bottom of the unit. Some users have criticized that you cannot drain the inside chamber or clean it, this way you can. Remember it is important that the filter sit flat and securely in the upper chamber. Many have complained about the noise of the unit. Since kitchens are generally hard reflective surfaces, any noise is naturally amplified. My WCH-1500 is in a corner with a dish towel behind it dampening the sound. You cannot see the towel and is does lower the white noise a bit. Overall, I do not find the unit all that noisy.
For a compact, convenient countertop water filter, I would highly recommend this.
